This set it is hard to see the trap, but it is a #4 Victor jump. The #3 jump an dlarger are my favortie foothold for beaver. Before set is started... Bank slicked with my boot... Diagram of the set... My mounds are small and just what ever I pull off the bottom... Trap placed it is a little hard to see so look close

Scott what lure do you use on your mounds? Well, I start off with a castor based lure. Depending on the area and a couple of things I might add a food type lure. A couple partially peeled sticks about pinkie diameter are great attrachtents also.

i also tend to catch them on top of beaver huts and muskrat huts anything high up cause they like to see out a ways. Guys check your regulations about trap placement at beaver houses. Here in Minnesota we can trap at or on the house but the trap has to be submerged. That means a bodygripper has to be be at least 1/2 under water and a foothold has to be totally under water.

Here 280s and 330s have to be completely under water, along with some footholds.

scott nice job
guys for those that are after lure shy beaver here is a tip
first use a drop or two of sac oil on the mound set
two if that fails take the urine from the local beaver you have caught and do the mound set but do not add any thing but the beaver urine to the mound
