Should be done with a file. Clean off all of the sharp edges, Clean up the dog notch and dog. And add a swivel or 2.
Something to rememeber, if you are going to put lams on the jaws, they add weight, not a bad thing. But that extra weight will slow the trap down, make it harder for the trap to bust through stiff ground. My advice when lamming jaws, 4 coil or at least put stouter springs on.

my first mod when ever getting new to me traps is night latch and level tune the pan the next mod is re-fitting my prefered chain set up then it's off to dye and wax spring strength to me isn't a mod it's just good up-keep of my gear. before my traps ever see dirt i engrave with a dremel tool all my pertanent info into the bottom of the frame, if Mr sneakum wants to grind that out he just ruined the trap and it's still blatant that it wasn't his trap
