Mower blade Fleshing Knife How to

These arnt that hard to make. They are concaved and make great fleshing knives. Cut the cutting edges off. Once done you can measure for the handle piece. Cut the blade so that the wood handles can be hammered on. I left a 2 inch piece 3 inches long on both ends of the blade for the handles. Once i had that done i took a 2x4 and cut two handles. I cut them 2x2 by 5 1/2 inches long. Then drilled a pilot slot for the metal to be driven into. Once that was done i hammered on the handles and shaped them like i wanted them. Off to the grinder for the sharpened edge. I ground it down then took a fine metal file and worked it down to perfection. I squared off the other edge for pushing the flesh from the hides. I hope this will give you guys some ideas how to make your own fleshing equipment.

That is a great ideal, i got plenty of them old mower blades. Bill, how sharp of an edge should be put on them?? Like skinning knife sharp? Or say like a butter knife sharp?

i have two brother dobs one is a skinning knife to get the hard to get flesh and grissle off around the head areas for those tuff hides and i got one like a butter knife edge just for my cats,

I got some old mower blades and bush hog blades here I may make one of those! Oh Bill remember how we were talking about me trapping otter, I got asked the other day by some one who's friend had some problem otters.

talk to the warden brother to see what needs to be done to get a special permit for you or the land owner but becareful

cats can be ruined real quick with a sharp knife if your not careful

Indi, i will help you anyway i can!! Nothing better than having a chance to do sumthing ya love! But doing what ya love with a collage degree makes a world of difference!!

i agree with brother dob and that degree will over several doors and also will help with adc doors as well

those can also apply to adc work
say you remove the animal and with that offer a bid to fix the damage,on the other hand asa mechanic you can fix your own autos
