Well, i figured i would help out alittle, and post a picture tuturiol (spelling!!) of how i make my DH sets! The first pic here, shows the the trap bedded in front of the hole, and almost covered. I like the pan to be about 5" away from the hole in the later season, and 6" away in the earlier season. The second pic shows the complete set. I Like my pan to be about 1/2"-3/4" lower then the surrounding area. The reason for this is k9s will be much more apt to step on the low spot. I will also guide the critters foot into my pan with some small clods of dirt (you should be able too see in the second pic). So, between the pan being the low spot and the small clods of dirt guiding the paw, greatly increases the animal placing his/hers foot on my pan-thus being caught! My finger points to were the pan is: I also like to keep my dirt pattern as tight as i can. However this, like alot of other tid bits will depend on your area! I would also like to mention that this set and what i said above ^ is geared towards fox...not so much coyote. For coyote, all i would do is use a bigger trap, have a smaller low spot for the pan, and move the trap back at around 9". However, i am not to experianced with coyote Hope this thread helps some people...also, i am always looking for critizimn!
